Large Day APA

Mildly hazy and bitter. Light on ABV, incredibly refreshing, and generously dry hopped to showcase some of America’s prominent citrus hops.

This APA is our salute to all 300,000 square kilometers, all 28,000 people and all 9,000 years of our predecessors’ history. Live large.

For those not familiar, "Large day", as used in Labrador, refers to a beautiful day with a great big blue sky with few clouds. This is reflected in the blues of Kyanite mineral texture depicted.

Nothing pairs better with a Large Day like a Large Day APA.
THE STYLE
American Pale Ales are usually lower on ABV compared to similar styles like an IPA. There is generally a large amount of American hops added (Cascade Hops are used a lot in this style), and these hops are what distinguish it from English Pale Ales. Citrus and pine flavours are usually dominant in aroma and taste.

THE HISTORY

APAs became their own style relatively recently (about 40 years ago), while the English Pale Ale has been around for much longer. In California, around 1975, Anchor Brewing Company brewed Anchor Liberty Ale. This brew closely followed English recipes for Pale Ales but used an American Hop Cascade instead. The beer became quite popular, and other breweries started making their own versions, and with that, the American Pale Ale style of beer was born.
